Part-time and flexible working

The thing that I think really important for women and we did this in the original college I worked in, where there was some hugely supportive women’s networks, was job shares. I think they’re very good. Employers often throw their hands up in despair. But it is possible to work out a job share. The women who take it on understand that it’s not going to be exactly fifty/fifty. That they’re going to work more than fifty per cent of the time. But most academics do anyway and I think the departments need to be more creative about making those kinds of opportunities available. And we know it’s possible because we know there are buy outs that buy half the people out anyway. So if you can be half of a full time person for three years there can be also job share opportunities. So I think more radical solutions are what is needed.
So for your, in your type of research, it is possible to have two people working on the same project perhaps?
I think so, yes.
